Q&A Tuesday II (!!!)
"How did you start your blog and what is your purpose behind it?"
You guysss! I love this question because I've answered it before (here) two years ago when this blog was only a few months old. And I laugh thinking about how much has changed between now and then. This life is crazy, am I right?!
-- So. This goes way back to the Xanga days really (& what I wouldn't give to be able to find my old page, oh em gee), spending hours scrolling through a new kind of platform of words and photos and stories. I fell in love with reading blogs, and then one day fell in love with writing my own. As an internal processor writing happens to be the best way for me to express everything jumbling around in my mind. Putting my fingers to a keyboard is a west-coast-beach-day kind of therapy for me. Feeling the sunshine as we speak ; )
A few years later I had a personal blog that I kept secret, so only a handful of strangers read it. But it was fun for me, and I was intimidated at the thought of putting myself out there for people to have opinions about, so I carried on. Then I spent a summer interning at P31 with girls who were also passionate about words (but not ashamed to share them) and it sparked something in me to want to do it for "real." The dot-com and everything. To be less afraid of what others think and more excited about the community it could bring. A year and a half later after some much needed convincing from my roommates, brainstorming blog names, and a few uncomfortable photo shoots. I hit "publish."
This blog changes with me as I change, and I love that. But my heart for it all remains the same. I want people to leave here feeling inspired, encouraged, lighthearted, or less alone than when they clicked the "link in profile." I want it to be a space to share the beautiful snapshots of the good things, the fun things, and the hard things too. In a way that always points back to something better: JESUS.
-- So there you go! Nothing fancy or formal. Just me in my jammies as a nanny in 2014 watching Youtube videos on how to use widgets. And if I've learned anything from it all, it is to TRY. Because why not?! There is plenty of room for us all to do the things we love. Whatever makes your heartbeat in a way that makes you feel alive and inspired. Do that thing. We need you to *insert emoji praise hands.*
