Bridal Suite Moments
April 24th, 2016. I walked down a trail that led to the reception area to find all of the people I love busily hanging fabric, setting out silverware, cutting flowers and icing the cake. I helped set up tablescapes and ceremony details until the very last second I could. My heart was in all of that design that we had worked on for months, and I could barely pull myself away. Right after 1 o'clock I skipped (almost literally) back to the bridal suite. The birds were chirping and the doors were wide open welcoming in the warm breeze. I slipped on my robe set, and touched the cold floor with my bare feet. And you know that feeling you get, when you know it's about to be the best day of your life? It squeezed my heart a little bit.
It was quiet and calm for about an hour while I sat and had my make-up done. Sipping a mimosa, thinking through all of the things. Then just like that, the girls piled in to start getting ready, Justin Bieber was blaring, the photographers and videographers arrived and then laughing, champagne popping, and hairspray. Because that's what a bridal suite is. And it's just the best.
My sister helped me step into my dress, and the room was silent. Worship music began to play and these words rang out: O come to the altar, the Father's arms are open wide. Forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. And I felt Jesus. I looked in the mirror at myself as a bride, and I heard him. In the way that is inaudible but overwhelmingly clear... "It's time. After all of these years. And I am here. With you, with him. And because of Jesus, I am well pleased with you both, my love."
